The Church says 'Sorry'

The Church of England has made an apology to Charles Darwin, the scientist who proffered the Theory of Evolution, some 126 years following his death, also claiming that the Church wished to distance itself from fundamentalist Christians who believe in the Biblical account of Creation.

WOW! The Church of England and its assortment of liberal theologians is distancing itself from little old me! That really warms the cockles of my heart! I have to admit that I worry a lot about being considered part of the gang in any sense, when the gang is made up of so many people who don't believe in the Bible, refuting not only the Biblical account of Creation, but also of original sin, the concept of hell, the virgin birth and even the resurrection. Cut every reference to all of that out of the Bible and you have an idea of the watered down versions that they promulgate. It's no wonder that so many churches are dying on their feet!

It is widely believed that Charles Darwin recanted towards the end of his life, although not surprisingly the stories have been rubbished, especially by the liberals who would end up with egg on their face should they be proven true. Whether they are or not is a point of conjecture. Only God knows the truth, for no one is alive today who would have been there to hear what Darwin said.

You can guess where I stand on the issue, but what about you, dear reader? Do you think that the Biblical account of Creation is a fiction? Do you perhaps feel that Darwin's theory of evolution is fully compatible with Scripture? Or what . . . ?

  1. 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

2 Timothy 3:14-17 (MSG) But don't let it faze you. Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers—why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother's milk! There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.

2 Timothy 3:16 (CEV) Everything in the Scriptures is God's Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.

No matter how you look at it, they all say the same thing. I think I'll take God's word over theirs any day.
