Poem for Today

Cats
.
Looking across the room
I see, like Prima Donnas,
a variety of cats,
relaxed,
alert,
sleeping,
purring,
overhanging chairs,
regally reclining
on cushioned tables.
Cats washing cats
who are busy
washing cats.
Singularly beautiful,
almost decadent in their
resplendent individuality,
their eyes squeezed tight
in ecstatic slumber.
