Joanne Lowe's Meditations

WE CAN STILL BE GLAD
“Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.”
Proverbs 12:25 (King James Version)

Have you ever seen the inspiring family movie “POLLYANNA”? I love this movie and I watch it over and over because there is no sex, no violence and no cursing in it. O that we would have more movies like this one.

When people got upset, Pollyanna would say “Let’s play the glad game”. She told them they could always find something to be glad about no matter what the circumstances were in their lives. Christians can also play the glad game.

If the blood of Jesus has been applied to our hearts for the forgiveness of our sins, that is enough to make us shout with happiness. Knowing that the Saviour of the world loves us should make our hearts glad.

When we are heartbroken, discouraged, lonely and going through dark valleys, Jesus tells us that He still loves us. Knowing that Jesus loves us not only makes us glad, it also gives us the determination to continue serving Him.

I don’t know what heartaches and crises you have in your life, but Jesus knows and He cares that you are hurting. He loves you so much that He died for you. If you can’t be glad about anything else, you can be glad that He loves you.

Heavenly Father, we praise You that in this world of violence and hatred, we can be glad because of the unconditional love that You have for us. I am so glad that on August 14, 1980, You forgave me for my sins and I became Your child. Amen.
