Joanne Lowe's Meditations

FROM DESPAIR TO FREEDOM
“For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour. In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.”
Isaiah 63:8, 9 (King James Version)

Pastor Isaac Watts wrote a beautiful song that describes the amazing unconditional love that Jesus has for us. The name of the song is “Plunged in a Gulf of Dark Despair”. The words in this song have encouraged my heart many times.

“He spoiled the powers of darkness thus, And brake our iron chains; Jesus hath freed our captive souls From everlasting pains”. Thank God for the cleansing redeeming blood of our precious Saviour.

One glorious day when Jesus comes back to take us home, there will no more dark valleys. Even though we have dark valleys now, Jesus is faithful to pick us up and carry us and set us once again on the mountain top of happiness.

Our precious Saviour delivered us from despair to freedom when He died on the cross for our sins. Jesus delivered me from the darkness of despair and pain and gave me freedom from my tortured thoughts.

If you are hurting, allow Jesus to carry you through the dark valleys. He really loves you and cares about you. He will wipe the tears from your heart and from your eyes with His tender compassionate kisses. O what a loving Saviour we have!
