Joanne Lowe's Meditations

A NEWSPAPER OF ENCOURAGEMENT
“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.”
Proverbs 16:24 (King James Version)
One of the reasons why some people have a bad day is because the first thing they do in the morning is read the newspaper.  The newspapers are full of violence, rape, murders, accidents and all other things that are discouraging.  O that we would have a newspaper that only printed things that are encouraging.

I used to read the newspaper every day.  Now I seldom read it because it literally makes me nauseous when I read about all the horrible things that have happened.  Even if we had a daily newspaper of encouragement, we still should read our Bibles before reading anything else.

If you want to have a peaceful day, read your Bible as soon as you get up.  However, it is not enough to just read the written Word; we must spend time with the living Word, our precious Saviour.  I’m sure it breaks the heart of Jesus when we only talk to Him if we have time between appointments.

Also, we should not get out of bed before we put on the whole armour of God.  “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13).  It is very important that we do not get out of bed before we pray and ask God to protect us.

I never get out of bed in the morning before I say “Heavenly Father, I love You.  Jesus, I love You.  Holy Spirit, I love You.”  It only takes one second for satan to hurl vicious poisonous darts of lies and discouragement at us.  Do you have on the whole armour of God?
