A good day for a walk in the woods

New Year's Day is always a good day for a walk, and what better than a walk in the woods or the forest, depending what you are closest to. I'm very fortunate, because Delamere Forest is only a few miles away from my home and it is a wonderful place to walk through, and very popular without ever giving  the feeling that you are overcrowded.


I love stumbling across the hidden places and surprises that a walk through the forest affords, especially such as in the above photograph when you find a stream cascading down a slope or a mere, calmly serene amidst the trees.


Whatever you decide to do today, I hope that it will be a good start to 2011 for you.
