Poem for Today: 'Poor City Suit'

Poor City Suit
A bowler hat
hangs, smooth and round,
upon the rack.
A pinstripe suit
hangs, sharp-creased,
below the hat,
looking down upon
an office block
waiting for morning.
Striped club tie,
crisp white shirt,
starched collar,
waiting patiently
for bowler hat and suit,
waiting for morning.
It seems so sad:
the sports suit smiles ---
tomorrow is Sunday ---
it waits for morning.
