Joanne Lowe's Meditations

NO LITTLE PEOPLE
"They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.  So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved."
Isaiah 41:6,7 (King James Version)
Someone won an award and said "I'd like to thank all of the little people who made it possible for me to win this award".  What a cruel and arrogant statement!  There are no little people.  No one is more important to Jesus than anyone else.  He has given all of us a talent and He loves all of us equally.
When I heard this statement, it reminded me of someone else who also made a very cruel remark "He cleans the church so he doesn't do anything to contribute to the church".  I submit to you on the authority of the Word of God that the person who cleans the church is just as important as the pastor.
"I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.  So then neither is he that planted any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase" (1 Corinthians 3:6).  We need to grasp in our hearts that all of us are important to God and we are to be an encouragement to one another.
Heavenly Father, we confess that we have sinned and hurt You by sometimes having a holier than thou attitude.  We're sorry.  Please have mercy on us and forgive us.  Thank You for the people who clean the church and provide a clean atmosphere for us to worship You.  Amen.
