New Hymn for today . . . 'The Gospel Singer'

The Gospel Singer

She stood on the stage in the spotlight,
To sing songs of praise to the Lord,
All the words that she spoke,
And the songs she sang,
Which were taken from God's holy word.
Her eyes filled with tears as she sang,
And told how Christ suffered and died;
Of the life He led,
And the way He bled,
When He paid for the sins of mankind.
Glory, glory! Glory, glory! Glory, glory!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Her voice had the sound of the angels
When she lifted her hands on high.
Glory, glory, she sang
To the Son of man,
Gazing up to the sweet bye and bye.
On and on she sang out her praises,
As the notes dipped low and then soared.
And then, trembling there
in the spotlight's glare,
Her soul sang out praise to the Lord.
Glory, glory! Glory, glory! Glory, glory!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
