Joanne Lowe's Meditations

ARE WE GIVING OUR BEST
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Romans 12:1 (King James Version)
Pastor Howard Benjamin Grose wrote a beautiful hymn that should challenge every Christian "Give of Your Best to the Master".  Are we giving our best or do we only give what is convenient for us?  We may go door to door on visitation but that is our reasonable service.
Are we doing what the words in this hymn tell us to do?  "Give of your best to the Master; Give Him first place in your heart.  Give Him first place in your service;" Can we honestly say that He has first place in our heart or do we put our family and our jobs before Him?
We serve a living Saviour yet there are times when we act like He is still dead.  No matter how many vicious poisonous darts satan hurls at us, Jesus still loves us.  Just knowing that Jesus loves us unconditionally and will never leave us should fill our heart to overflowing with happiness and give us the desire to go on.
Someone made this comment about serving Jesus "I kept doing what I knew I should do but I was dead inside.  I didn't feel anything".  I submit to you on the authority of the Word of God that we have a living Saviour in our heart, not a dead one.  Let's start acting like we are serving a risen Saviour!
