Joanne Lowe's Meditations

HIS COMPASSIONATE HEART
"And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.  Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.  And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."
Luke 23: 33, 34 (King James Version)
John Newton wrote a beautiful hymn about our Saviour's compassionate heart.  The name of this heart touching hymn is "Let Me Dwell on Golgotha".  The words in this hymn should cause every Christian to fall on his or her knees in gratitude to Jesus.
I believe when John Newton wrote these words that they came from the depths of his heart.  He wrote these words about Jesus.  "Hark! His dying words; "Forgive, Father, let the sinner live; Sinner, wipe thy tears away, I thy ransom freely pay."
Jesus forgave us while hanging on the cross in agony.  What kind of love is this?  This is a compassionate unconditional love that only comes from the heart of Jesus and our Heavenly Father.  All hail, King Jesus!  Worthy is the Lamb of God!  He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!
Jesus died for you.  What are you doing for Him?  He has called every Christian to serve Him.  Have you shut off the television and left your comfort zone to serve Him?  Jesus left His comfort zone and His Father to die for us.  We should be eager to serve Him and do all that we can do to make Him happy.
