Joanne Lowe's Meditations

A WORLD OF DARKNESS
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16 (King James Version)
There are many people who are walking in the darkness of the world instead of walking in the light of Jesus.  Our world is filled with violence, hatred and injustice.  These people desperately need to see the light of Jesus.  Our Scripture verse instructs us to let the light of Jesus shine through us.
Carrie Elizabeth Ellis Breck wrote a beautiful hymn "Make Him Known".  Can we honestly say that we are doing what the words in this hymn tell us to do?  "Souls are groping in the night, Make Him known-make Him known!  Jesus is the world's true Light, Make Him known!"  Are we making Him known?
It doesn't matter how much light we have in the room.  If Jesus does not live in our heart, we are still in the dark.  A pastor said in one of his sermons "We were in a cave and it was so dark, I could not see my hand."  It is the same without Jesus.  All of us are in total darkness until the light of Jesus is in our heart.
May God help us to spread the unconditional love of Jesus to a world that is walking in the darkness without Jesus.  What about your family?  Do they hear the unconditional love of Jesus in your words and feel His love in the kind things you do for them?  Does your family know that you love Jesus by the way you live?
Heavenly Father, I pray for the people who are walking in the darkness without Jesus.  Please help us to live so that others will see the light of Jesus shining through us in what we say and the things we do.  Jesus, You are the light of my heart and life.  I love You and appreciate You so much, dear Jesus.  Amen.
