A holiday in Wonderful Wales

We spent what turned out to be the best week of the year staying in The Gardener's Cottage, just outside Caernarfon in North Wales. A beautiful place to stay and some of the sunniest and warmest days of the year, all gathered together to make a memorable holiday. Of course, I admit to being biased when it comes to Wales, but nevertheless less there is no better place to spend a holiday than in the Principality in my (slightly biased) opinion! 

The cottage is situated in a really peaceful setting on the outskirts of Caernarfon, and overlooks a great garden, carefully and lovingly tended by the owner who lives next door. Sit outside on the terrace amongst all the pots of flowers, and spend a little time enjoying a drink and a book.

Carefully restored and refurbished, using a mix of antique and contemporary furniture and furnishings, all come together to make The Gardeners Cottage a wonderful, snug, romantic retreat. Central heating ensures year round cosiness. It's definitely a place where we will return for another holiday.

 Sam always comes with us each year when we holiday in Wales. It is his place of birth after all, and so he needs to go there just as much as I do! Here he is following his usual practise of having his nose to the ground --- or to the slate in this case --- just outside the entrance to the cottage.

 We visited many places within a short drive from our cottage, the above being Beaumaris Castle on Anglesey. You could walk to the end of the drive and see the island just across the Menai Straits, which are in the picture below.

 We went to Treaddur Bay on Anglesey, as well as visiting Llangefni and several other places such as Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, which has the distinction of being the village with the longest name in the United Kingdom. The name means:

 'St Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the rapid whirlpool of Llantysilio of the red cave.'

 We also visited Criccieth (above) and Pwllheli whilst we were on our holiday. We found a great little shop in Pwllheli in Lower Cardiff Road, which was called Olivet, and sells Christian Book & Gifts. Call them on 07796 753700.
