Update on the Bill in the Lords

Dear marriage supporter,

I thought you would appreciate an update on what has been happening with the same-sex marriage Bill in the House of Lords. There has been lots going on.

The Bill has now completed its Committee Stage. As is usual, there have been no votes during Committee Stage. The Bill now moves to Report Stage, scheduled to take place on 8 and 10 July, when we expect there will be votes on key amendments.

During Committee Stage, many Peers have been pressing for a long list of protections for people who believe in traditional marriage, including:

· Protecting people at work from being disciplined just because they voice support for traditional marriage.

· Stopping local authorities using the Public Sector Equality Duty to ban a church from hiring public facilities just because the church disagrees with same-sex marriage.

· Protecting foster carers from being blacklisted by social workers just because they believe marriage is the union of a man and woman.

· Giving couples the option of marrying according to the real definition of marriage, rather than being forced to marry according to the new genderless definition.

· Protecting the right of teachers to express support for traditional marriage without risking their careers.

· Making clear that freedom of speech about marriage should not be restricted by equality laws.

There have been some passionate and excellent speeches from Peers who support these protections, including from a number of the country’s top legal experts. A former Lord Chancellor and two former senior judges lent their voices to the call for civil liberty safeguards.

The Government has promised to change the criminal law so that criticism of same-sex marriage won’t be, of itself, a hate-crime. We welcome that reassurance, but our primary concern lies with civil, not criminal, law. For example, employment law and discrimination law – where the problems are most likely to arise – are part of civil law. Here, the Government has stubbornly refused to give an inch on safeguarding the freedom of people who believe in traditional marriage.

They even went as far as saying people who work in the private sector – let alone public sector – should be fired if they refuse to provide services for a same-sex wedding. As far as the Government is concerned, there should be no liberty of conscience in those circumstances.

That shows what we’re up against, but we have no intention of backing down. We will be working hard to call for safeguards for people – like you – who support traditional marriage.

This is important work, but we haven’t stopped defending the principle of real marriage. We always said the Government would tie itself in knots trying to redefine marriage, and here is just one example: in the official Explanatory Notes which accompany the Bill, the Government says:

The terms “husband” and “wife” here refer to a person who is married for the purposes of paragraph 1(2)(c) of Schedule 3. This means that “husband” here will include a man or a woman in a same sex marriage, as well as a man married to a woman. In a similar way, “wife” will include a woman married to another woman or a man married to a man. The result is that this section is to be construed as including both male and female same sex marriage. (Read it for yourself, see p29)

In other words, under this Bill, a woman can be a “husband” and a man can be “wife”. It just shows that words lose all meaning when politicians meddle with marriage

Flaws in the 'Same-Sex Marriage' Bill & the Government's Stance

	The Government is blocking protections
	Dear marriage supporter, The Coalition Government has agreed to change the criminal law to put it beyond doubt that disagreeing with same-sex marriage is not a hate crime. That should send a helpful message to those who throw around the ‘bigot’ label far too freely. However, Government ministers are being advised by officials in the equalities office to block any other protections in the civil law. We think reasonable changes need to be made to employment law and equality law to protect people like you – people who believe in traditional marriage – but the Government is not listening. The House of Lords is currently examining the Bill line by line. The legislation is getting the kind of prolonged scrutiny that the Government did not permit in the Commons. In the Commons the Government guillotined debate and stacked the committee with the Bill’s supporters, but they can’t do that in the Lords. Now that the Bill is under the spotlight in the Lords, gaps are beginning to show. Faithfulness ‘not necessary’ Astonishingly, the Government says fidelity is not a necessary part of any marriage. The exact quote from the Government minister is: “In terms of the law, marriage does not require the fidelity of couples. It is open to each couple to decide for themselves on the importance of fidelity within their own relationship.” In other words, under the Bill, the Government doesn’t think faithfulness is important in marriage. This is because it wants to avoid the legal problems which would otherwise be created if it introduced laws about adultery or consummation for same-sex marriage. That shatters the argument that this Bill will strengthen marriage. No, it will wreck marriage. Job losses Up until now, officials in the equalities office have been telling Government ministers that the Bill won’t harm the liberty of people who disagree with it. But after pressure in the House of Lords, Government ministers have admitted they want commercial companies to be able to sack staff who refuse to be involved with same-sex marriages. The Government thinks commercial chauffeurs who object to a same-sex marriage should be dismissed. By the same logic, florists, photographers and cake makers would also be in the firing line. We want a reasonable accommodation for such workers, a bit of flexibility which takes account of people’s sincere beliefs. But so far the Government has stubbornly refused. We are also calling for protections for public sector workers like teachers and chaplains; and we want to make sure that local councils can’t penalise organisations who disagree with same-sex marriage. So far, the Government won’t give way. But the Lords are putting the Government on the spot, making life very uncomfortable for them. We are working very hard to defend traditional marriage. Church of England gives up the fight over same-sex marriage

      We are clearly instructed in Scripture to obey the laws set down by our leaders, unless, that is, they contravene God's laws. Why then, I ask, has the Church of England capitulated over the question of the Redefining of Marriage Bill?
     Bishop of Leicester, who is the Convener of the Lords Spiritual, has said in an official statement that the Church of England will no longer fight the Bill to Redefine Marriage. This is tantamount to the Church of England sanctioning same-sex marriage, a matter which goes directly against God's law. This government has no mandate to put this Bill forward. It was not in the manifesto of any of the political parties, and it faces massive opposition from a huge swathe of the populace. Polls have shown that even many from amongst the homosexual members of the public see no particular reason for the Bill to be put forward. 
     It has been stated by many of the leading voices that there will be far-reaching ramifications if this Bill is passed, ranging from concerns over the ignoring of people's voice of conscience over the matter when it impacts on their employment status to the impact that it will have on pension rights. That it contravenes God's law is of no consequence to this current leadership, for it is made up of atheists and those who claim the name of Christian without the responsibility to act like one.
     Throughout the history of mankind there have been leaders who have opposed God, and history is littered with the tales of their nation's demise. Consider the great empires of the past, empire such as the Roman Empire, the Greek Empire, and of course the British Empire. All have now gone. Yes, especially the latter, for the halcyon days of the British Empire are long over, and most people would probably prefer to call this nation the United Kingdom rather than Great Britain, for the simple reason that politicians of all shades have eroded the claims to greatness that the nation once had. Even the term 'United Kingdom' refers to a dubious position, for Wales has already achieved a measure of devolution, Scotland is clamouring for independence, and Ireland is a split nation.
    “Both Houses of Parliament have now expressed a clear view by large majorities on the principle that there should be legislation to enable same-sex marriages to take place in England and Wales.

     “It is now the duty and responsibility of the Bishops who sit in the House of Lords to recognise the implications of this decision and to join with other members in the task of considering how this legislation can be put into better shape...
      “If this bill is to become law, it is crucial that marriage as newly defined is equipped to carry within it as many as possible of the virtues of the understanding of marriage it will replace.

     “Our focus during committee and report stages in the coming weeks and months will be to address those points in a spirit of constructive engagement."

     This effectively signals the end of the Church of England's official opposition to the Bill.

     Even the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has stated his support for the Bill in a recent statement on the subject. The Archbishop also approved of the idea of same sex relationships in his speech, contrary to the Bible's teaching on homosexuality. He said: "It is clearly essential that stable and faithful same sex relationships should, where those involved want it, be recognised and supported with as much dignity and the same legal effect as marriage".

     As the Archbishop is the head of the Anglican Communion this statement will have far-reaching implications for the Church as a whole. Over many years the Anglicans have been dealing with split opinions over many matters, but this current proposed legislation, flying in the face of God as it does, is likely to turn the split into a gaping chasm. No wonder that mainstream churches are empty on a Sunday when the leadership clearly chooses to satisfy man's cravings rather than God's teaching.

Compensate the families of the Mau Mau's victims too!

So the UK Government are to pay out several million pounds in compensation to members of the Mau Mau, the infamous Kenyan terrorist group guilty of the mutilation, maiming, raping and murdering of so many victims in the 1950s. The payouts are because their 'Yuman Rights' were violated by the British Colonial regime. Now, victims are victims, whichever the side they are on, and torture, maiming and the like are totally unacceptable in a civilized society. Those who perpetrate it should be brought to justice. I see no real problem with compensating the victims of such crimes, provided that it is universal, and not restricted to one side of a conflict only. However, what about the Mau Mau compensating their victims as well.

After all, surely what's good for the goose is good for the gander!

Redefinition of Marriage Bill

     Tomorrow, 4th June, the House of Lords will consider the Bill to Redefine Marriage. It's interesting that the government take on this ill-thought out proposal to allow people of the same sex to marry is that it is supported by a majority of people, yet that is not what I, or many others like myself, have found when discussing it with people. Although I have found a few who say that they don't care what happens, the majority of people to whom I have spoken about the bill are firmly opposed to it. I have to draw the conclusion that a poll that was unbiased in its wording would probably reflect that fact that most people do not support the Bill, although probably most people don't care enough to voice their opposition to it as long as it doesn't affect them personally. 
     As with so many other ill-thought out schemes of this and previous governments, should this Bill pass into Law then the problems arising from it will begin to show themselves in a very short space of time. In my opinion, this Bill rides roughshod over God's plan for humanity, and as history has proved in past years, the end result will be catastrophe for every nation which adopts similar measures. It is impossible to defy God and still think that He will bless our nation.

Evolution & the Theory of Random Mutations

Evolution Depends On Mutations!

     I know it sounds stupid, but evolutionists really believe that your body and your brain were developed by a series of random, unplanned accidents passed on by inheritance from parents to children.

     They have faith that random accidents (called mutations) gradually changed the simple little brains of one celled animals into the wonderful brains inside their own skulls today!

     The evolutionists’ theory is that a first cell from who knows where gradually evolved to become you and me by random mutations. (accidental changes). Evolutionists believe that they now sit triumphantly enthroned at the top of a pile of increasingly complex forms of life created by unplanned, undirected random accidents.

     Imagine with me that Ford had to depend on accidents to design its new models: “They are paying us to design next years Ford, so let’s close our eyes and run the Ford we’re driving into that huge rock over there. That should be a big step in creating the design for next year’s Ford!”

     If you’re thinking, “No fool could be that stupid!” You’re almost right!

     Evolutionists, however really believe that their own bodies and brains got here by random accidental changes to earlier less evolved bodies and brains. They call those changes random mutations.

     In our experience, random changes to things that do what they were intelligently designed to do don’t make them do it better!

     Make a random change to a Ford or a bicycle, and it will make either one worse! Our bodies and brains function because they were made by the Master Designer. They are NOT the result of accidents. Accidental changes to things that were intelligently designed degrade them! Atheists get around this problem by believing that God never made anything so he couldn't have made living things. This leaves them stuck with the belief that living things must have been produced, or at least perfected by random mutations.

     Do you believe like the evolutionists that random changes make stuff better? Grab a hammer, put on a blindfold, and make some random changes to your car! Random changes to things that were intelligently designed mess them up! Random changes to cars make them worse whether they are caused by automobile accidents or your hammer. Even if your car is old and rusty you don’t want it to be in a wreck!

     Pity the poor atheists! They don’t trust in God the Creator because they have chosen not to believe in Him. When they ask themselves, “Where did we come from?” They limit their choices to a few really stupid alternatives. They end up believing that the very brain they are thinking with was built up by random accidents that happened to earlier brains that were worse. It’s like trying to account for the design of a Ford if you are absolutely convinced that Fords were built by accidents!

     It’s tough to be an atheist or one of their evolutionist followers. They have to try to believe that random accidents, which they call mutations, created the very brains they count on to do their thinking! So why trust their thinking?

Religious Tolerance

The question is, "Which god calls on you to kill in order to get to heaven, and which God calls on you to love your neighbour and acknowledge His Son, in order to get into heaven. I know which God I follow, and through whom, and it's got nothing to do with the moon-god.

On the subject of Revival

     If you are serious about praying for revival then you are already alive in Christ and have already been revived yourself.
     Revival is needed for things that have become dead, for how can you revive what is already alive?
     That which needs revival is the church that has become complacent and lazy when it comes to the matters of God. For far too long the Church has followed its own agenda rather than God's, and has led worshippers astray by the liberal teaching of false gospels rather than sharing the healing, reviving Gospel of Jesus Christ. It's time to pray for the Holy Spirit to come down and visit our nation with the purifying fire of revival.
     The task of the Gospel preacher is not to fill the pews but to speak God's truth. That way he will be filling the halls of heaven. What comfort will it be in the next life if all people have been fed with in this life are the things that made them feel comfortable in the pew.
     I think that there was good reason for pews to be made of solid wood rather than letting folk sit in comfortable armchairs!

Coalition Ministers don't care about their own children

The Coalition government Ministers in the UK don't care about their own children, so why would they care about yours. If they cared then they would vote in an automatic block on internet pornography to ensure that children would be denied the easy access which currently exists, and that porn sites could only be accessed by an 'opting in' process, with those opting to view online porn having to register to do so.

Children's Charities, Child Safety campaigners and huge numbers of parents back the idea, as do much of the media. Over 40% of parents responded to the Government's own consultation in favor of such a process but, as so often is the case, their views have been ignored.

In theory, politicians are elected to put forward the views of the electorate, but in practice they tend to generally ignore them, despite the empty promises and assurances that are offered when the time comes for re-election.

What is needed is true People Power!

"Where there's muck there's brass" : 'Fifty Shades of Grey' : A tale of Pornography

     When I was in W H Smiths the other day I noticed a group of women by a display placed near the sales counter. They were all talking excitedly about the book on display which was 'Fifty Shades of Grey' written by E L James. This book has been labelled as 'mummy-porn', and it is sweeping the best-seller lists. For this reason many of you may be tempted to buy it and see what all the fuss is about.
     Well, let me tell you what the fuss is about. This is what ABC News have summarised about the book:
"Anastasia Steele, 21, and a virginal college student, can't say no to dashing 27-year-old Christian Grey, who insists she sign a contract that allows him to submit her to his every sadomasochistic whim. In their first sexual encounter, Grey unveils his silver tie and binds her wrists in knots, and Steele does as she is told. He is also fabulously rich, a telecommunications tycoon, and uses his wealth to take care of her like a pampered princess. "Ana," as he calls her, willingly and excitedly agrees to spanking, whipping and gagging, with props like ice, rope, tape—a repertoire right out of a BDSM [bondage, discipline, dominance and submission] manual. Grey instructs her to call him, "sir" and sets rules on everything from her diet to her most intimate grooming routines."
     So there you have it. It's pornography, dressed up slightly by those with a vested financial interest to create the impression that it's okay and just a little harmless reading --- but it's not!
     If you are tempted to buy it and read it then just ask yourself if you would place it next to the Bible on the bookshelf without any pangs of guilt.
     Well, the expression "Where there's muck there's brass" certainly applies in this case, for the author has already made several million from writing and peddling this filth, and stands to make much more. However, the time of reckoning will eventually come of course.

Thoughts on the redefinition of Marriage

The Government should remember that marriage, which is defined as the union of one man and one woman, was instituted by Almighty God and confirmed by the Lord Jesus Christ and no earthly government has the power to change it.

Prime Minister, David Cameron, is determined to force through the redefinition of marriage to include same-sex couples, despite having no mandate from the electorate and a massive chunk of the UK's citizens stating that they do not support it. 

The strange thing is, although Cameron is almost certainly trying to toady up to the 'pink vote' there are many homosexuals and lesbians who are disinterested in the whole matter.

It seems that Cameron is doing what Cameron does best --- ingratiating himself with the PC lobby whilst alienating himself from the real world and the electorate. He will discover the folly of his actions at the next Ballot Box opportunity, and have time in the near future to reflect on the mistakes which lost him the Premiership.

The Need for Better Communication

COMMUNICATION

In her book ‘Can't Wait to get to Heaven,’ Fannie Flagg wrote about a boy being given a gift of a red kite by the old lady who took him under her wing.  When asked why she'd chosen that particular gift her reply was: "Well, the boy was always looking down, and I wanted something that would make him look up for a change."

I guess that there are times in everyone's life when they need to stop looking down and start looking up!  The problem is that often there's nobody around with such a good idea as that old lady had.  When someone comes along who can help us to look up though, we see a whole different world, and we have a different way of looking at it as well.

The old lady used that red kite as a means of communication with the boy. She would go out and fly the kite with him in her garden, and all the time he was looking up he was seeing life from a new perspective.  Life became better, and it was all because someone found a way to communicate with him.

Communication is about more than words.  In fact often words can seem too empty to do the job properly. So how can we become better communicators?

I think that the best place to start is with the whole concept of communication.  Just imagine a world in which communication simply didn't exist.  Imagine all the things we would be without!

· There would be no words and so no books.

· There would be no music.

· There would be nothing but a silence that was interrupted by our own grunts.

· With no conversation, nor the means of it, the human race would die out.

· Without communication we would be incapable of showing, or feeling, love.

John Donne wrote that: "All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated .  As therefore the bell that rings to a sermon, calls not upon the preacher only, but upon the congregation to come: so this bell calls us all: but how much more me, who am brought so near the door by this sickness. ... No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. "  Donne recognised the need for good communication between human beings if they were to function as they were intended.

The Bible teaches us that “man does not live by bread alone, but by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.”  In order to live our lives in a manner that's pleasing to God we need to communicate with Him through the medium of prayer.  Like all communication, prayer is a two-way happening.  To pray without believing that God is listening to you becomes nothing more than a meaningless babble that will have little more than a placebo effect.  For prayer to become meaningful then you need to pray believing that God hears you, that He will answer you, and you must also listen to what He says to you, remembering that communication is about much more than simply words alone.

· When you take a walk in the country then God communicates with you through the flora and fauna and the scenery, reminding you of His greatness in Creation.

· When you hear a beautiful piece of music that stirs your soul, then God is speaking to you through it.

· When you see a beautiful picture that fascinates and holds you, then God is speaking through that as well.

· When you love someone deeply, and when you are loved deeply, then God speaks to you through those feelings, reminding you that He is love and just how much He loves you.

For the greater part of my life I've been involved in communicating with people through the gift of writing, whether it be prose, verse, or song.  Many of the people who read my work will never meet up with me, yet the communication is still there. Through the words that I write they will find a way to communicate with others and, more importantly, they can find a medium through which God can speak to them.

Greg Scheer - the composer with whom I write so many of my songs - and I, have never met, yet we meet up in a sense through the words themselves.  We are on a similar wave-length, and that's because the words and the music of the songs communicate, linking us together.

When I write new words to an old hymn tune I am conscious that in a sense I am communicating with the composer of the tune, even though there may be one or two centuries between us. Perhaps in some future time, a new composer will decide to put new music to my words, and then in the same sense, that composer will be communicating with me.

Communication. The tool that enables us to live side by side, cheek by jowl, comfortably.  Without it we are empty, devoid of feelings and without companionship.  Without it we would be lost, for without communication we would be out of touch with God.  And life without God would be meaningless and empty.

Let's think about the way that we interact and communicate with others, for when we do then not only their lives are changed but ours also.

A kind word, a smile, a look, a touch.  These are all ways to reach out and touch people's lives. In our hands we have a powerful tool that can bring about change through all these ways.

Le caniche français de Merkel garde un jappement!

      Je suis sûr que beaucoup de gens ont trouvé Napoléon Bonaparte un petit Français ennuyeux. Il est réclamé quelquefois que le plus court vous êtes le plus bruyant vous avez besoin d'être pour faire votre voix a entendu sur la foule.
     C'est aussi un fait que très souvent le plus petit le chien le plus il jacasse et aboiements, souvent à la grande contrariété de tout du neighbours.
     Cela paraît certainement être aussi vrai du caniche français avec qu'Angela Merkel est souvent vue dans public. Il paraît qu'il est bien formé, pour Sarkozy vient, en courant toutes les fois que Merkel siffle pour lui. Cela qui un petit Français ennuyeux qu'il est, et cela qui beaucoup de bruit qu'il fait.
     Pour enlever des malheurs économiques de son propre Pays il revient à ce que les Français ont fait pour les années--- frapper loin aux Anglais. Ils n'ont jamais pardonné les Anglais pour battre Bonaparte, et c'est le problème.
     Bien sûr, ici dans le Royaume-Uni il y a beaucoup qui paraissent danser à l'air que Merkel et Sarkozy jouent actuellement. Nick Clegg--- le chef LibDem qui est meilleur à vaciller et fait attention à changer, et les plusieurs autres qui ont peur pour voir le jus de viande train de l'UE ont fait dérailler et leurs occasions pour travaux de la retraite doré sur tranche faits dérailler à quai--- étend tant de morceaux de bavard méchant au sujet des dangers créés par le veto de Cameron la semaine dernière de la part de Grande-Bretagne. Ils réclament ce Cameron a, par suite du veto, Grande-Bretagne gauche a exposé dangereusement et a isolé. Cela qui une charge d'absurdité! En ne joignant pas l'Euro condamné monnaie la Grande-Bretagne a été isolé depuis que l'Euro a été lancé en janvier 1999, donc ce qui est nouveau?
     À tout observateur assaisonné c'est évident que l'Euro est condamné à échec et le dustbin d'histoire économique et politique. Déjà nous avons eu des renflouements pour l'Euro qui a manqué spectaculairement d'accomplir la stabilité, et jeter plus de billions dans le pot étirera simplement dehors les mort douleurs de l'Euro et l'Eurozone.
     Aucun émerveillement que Merkel et ses vieux copains d'UE veulent amener une loi qui interdit tout pays dans l'UE de tenir un référendum sur toute politique d'UE!
     Paraît à moi que derrière tout de ceci le désir est pour le Nouveau Monde Ordonnez d'établir un étranglement plus serré sur ce coin du globe. Je ne suis pas d'accord avec beaucoup que les politiciens font ces jours parce qu'il paraît si souvent qu'ils s'inquiètent plus d'eux-mêmes que les gens ils sont nommés pour représenter. Cependant, j'étais les deux content et ai surpris par le courage politique 

Merkel's French poodle keeps on yapping!

     I'm sure that many people found Napoleon Bonaparte an annoying little Frenchman. It is sometimes claimed that the shorter you are the louder you need to be in order to make your voice heard over the crowd. 
     It is also a fact that very often the smaller the dog the more it yaps and barks, often to the great annoyance of all of the neighbours. 
     This certainly seems to be true also of the French poodle that Angela Merkel is often seen in public with. It seems that he is well trained, for Sarkozy comes running whenever Merkel whistles for him What an annoying little Frenchman he is, and what a lot of noise he makes.
     In order to detract from his own Country's economic woes he reverts to what the French have done for years --- bashing away at the British. They have never forgiven the British for defeating Bonaparte, and that's the problem.
     Of course, here in the UK there are many who seem to dance to the tune that Merkel & Sarkozy are currently playing. Nick Clegg --- the LibDem leader who is best at wavering and mind-changing, and various others who are afraid to see the gravy-train of the EU derailed and their opportunities for gilt-edged retirement jobs derailed alongside --- are spreading so many bits of malicious gossip about the dangers created by Cameron's veto last week on behalf of Britain. They claim that Cameron has, as a result of the veto, left Britain dangerously exposed and isolated. What a load of nonsense! By not joining the doomed Euro currency Britain has been isolated since the Euro was launched in January 1999, so what's new?
     To any seasoned observer it is obvious that the Euro is doomed to failure and the dustbin of economic and political history. Already we have had bailouts for the Euro that have spectacularly failed to achieve stability, and throwing more billions into the pot will simply stretch out the death-throes of the Euro and the Eurozone.
     No wonder Merkel and her EU cronies want to bring in a law which bans any country in the EU from holding a referendum on any EU policy! 
     Seems to me that behind all of this is the desire for the New World Order to establish a tighter stranglehold on this corner of the globe. I don't agree with much that the politicians do these days because it so often appears that they are more concerned about themselves than the people they are appointed to represent. However, I was both pleased and surprised by David Cameron's political courage in vetoing what he perceived to be bad for the UK, despite the whining of the assorted Europhiles, especially those in the LibDem camp.

Germany's Current Attempt to Control Europe Must Fail!

Germany is so persistent when it comes to their desire to dominate and control Europe, and the current attempt by this German Chancellor must be made to fail just as the attempt by another German Chancellor did in the Second World War.

Back in 1914-1918 we defeated Kaiser Bill.

In 1939-1945 we defeated Adolf Hitler

In 2011-201? will we defeat Angela Merkel?

What we need is a leader with the courage of Winston Churchill who is not afraid to face up to the bullying tactics of German Chancellor Merkel and her French poodle. Is David Cameron strong enough? Personally I doubt it. He says one thing when challenged by one group and another when faced with opposition from a different source. 

Just as history has judged the failures of the last two German attempts at dominating Europe so it will judge the current attempt. The last two attempts were won by the people. Let us ensure that the current attempt is won by people power as well!

London Pride or Tesco Shame?

     Why on earth has Tesco, probably the UK's largest retailer, aligned itself to the aggressive political organisation Pride London? Having decided to break its sponsorship of Cancer Research after a decade of support, why not give their support to another of the many deserving mainstream charities that exist in the UK? Why choose instead to lend its support to a political organisation set up to promote the rights, real or perceived, of the homosexual minority in the UK?
      There are homosexuals and Lesbians in every area of the population, including those who suffer with various disabilities and illnesses, so why single them out as though they are separate to the population rather than a part of it, albeit in a minority which, according to the Office for National Statistics, represents slightly over one percent of the populace?
     That figure means that on average, only one percent of Tesco's customers are likely to be either homosexual or Lesbian, and yet Tesco chiefs obviously feel that it is a good thing to promote their political credo over the more obvious charitable needs of the whole population. In my opinion, that is unacceptable, and furthermore, is contemptuous of all those members of society who believe that the principles laid down in the Bible should be adhered to. 
     For this reason I join with others in calling for a boycott of Tesco unless and until they remove themselves from the support given to any political body, Pride London or any other. My message to Tesco is therefore, that they should stick to selling groceries.

Reformation Day: A Good Time to Make a Change

IT'S (PAST) TIME for A CHARISMATIC REFORMATION

In honor of Reformation Day, here are some complaints I'm nailing on the Wittenberg door.

Long before there was an Occupy Wall Street, Martin Luther staged the most important protest in history. He was upset because Roman Catholic officials were promising people forgiveness or early escape from purgatory in exchange for money.  So on October 31, 1517, Luther nailed a long list of complaints on the door of a church in Wittenberg, Germany.

Luther's famous 95 theses were translated from Latin into German and spread abroad. Like a medieval Jeremiah, Luther dared to ask questions that had never been asked, and he challenged a pope who was supposedly infallible. Through this brave monk, the Holy Spirit sparked the Protestant Reformation and restored the doctrine of grace to a church that had become corrupt, religious, dysfunctional, political and spiritually dead.

I am no Luther, but I've grown increasingly aware that the so-called "Spirit-filled" church of today struggles with many of the same things the Catholic church faced in the 1500s. We don't have "indulgences"-we have telethons.  We don't have popes --- we have super-apostles. We don't support an untouchable priesthood --- we throw our money at celebrity evangelists who own fleets of private jets.

In honor of Reformation Day, I'm offering my own list of needed reforms in our movement. And since I can't hammer these on the Wittenberg door, I'll post them online. Feel free to nail them everywhere.

1. Let's reform our theology. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is God and He is holy. He is not an "it." He is not a blob, a force, or an innate power. We must stop manipulating Him, commanding Him and throwing Him around.

2.  Let's return to the Bible. The Word of God is the foundation for the Christian experience. Any dramatic experience, no matter how spiritual it seems, must be tested by the Word and the Holy Spirit's discernment. Visions, dreams, prophecies and encounters with angels must be in line with Scripture. If we don't test them we could end up spreading deception.

3. It's time for personal responsibility. We charismatics must stop blaming everything on demons. People are usually the problem.

4.  Stop playing games. Spiritual warfare is a reality, but we are not going to win the world to Jesus just by shouting at demonic principalities. We must pray, preach and persevere to see ultimate victory.

5. Stop the foolishness. People who hit, slap or push others during prayer should be asked to sit down until they learn gentleness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.

6.  End all spiritual extortion now.  Christian television ministries must cease and desist from all manipulative fundraising tactics.  We must stop giving platforms to ministers who make outlandish claims of supernatural financial returns, especially when Scripture is twisted, deadlines are imposed and the poor are exploited.

7.  No more Lone Rangers. Those who claim to be ministers of God-whether they are travelling evangelists, local pastors or heads of ministries-must be accountable to other leaders.  Any who refuse to submit their lives to godly discipline should be corrected.

8. Expose the creeps. Churches should start doing background checks on traveling ministers. Preachers who have been hiding criminal records, lying about their past marriages, preying on women or refusing to pay child support should be exposed as charlatans and shunned if they do not repent.

9.  Stop faking the anointing. God is God, and He does not need our "help" to manifest Himself. That means we don't sprinkle glitter on ourselves to suggest God's glory is with us, hide fake jewels on the floor to prove we are anointed or pull chicken feathers out of our
sleeves to pretend angels are in the room. This is lying to the Holy Spirit.

 10. Let's return to purity. We've had enough scandals. The charismatic church must develop a system for the restoration of fallen ministers. Those who fall morally can be restored, but they must be willing to submit to a process of healing rather than rushing immediately back into the pulpit.

11. We need humility. Ministers who demand celebrity treatment, require lavish salaries, insist on titles or exhibit aloofness from others are guilty of spiritual pride.

12.  No more big shots. Apostles are the bond-slaves of Christ, and should be the most impeccable models of humility. True apostles do not wield top-down, hierarchical authority over the church. They serve the church from the bottom up as true servants.

13. Never promote gifts at the expense of character. Those who operate in prophecy, healing and miracles must also exhibit the fruit of the Spirit. And while we continue to encourage the gift of tongues, let's make sure we don't treat it like some kind of badge of superiority. The world needs to see our love, not our glossolalia.

14.  Hold the prophets accountable. Those who refuse to take responsibility for inaccurate statements should not be given platforms. And "prophets" who live immoral lives don't deserve a public voice.

15. Let's make the main thing the main thing. The purpose of the Holy Spirit's anointing is to empower us to reach others. We are at a crossroads today: Either we continue off-course, entertained by our charismatic sideshows, or we throw ourselves into evangelism, church planting, missions, discipleship, and compassionate ministry that helps the poor and fights injustice. Churches that embrace this New Reformation will focus on God's priorities.

Christmas tress or 'Holiday' trees?

Apparently the White House referred to Christmas Trees as Holiday Trees for the first time this year which prompted CBS presenter, Ben Stein, to present this piece which I would like to share with you. I think it applies just as much to many countries as it does to America .

The following was written  by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday  Morning   Commentary.

My confession:     I am a Jew, and every  single one of my ancestors was Jewish.  And it does not bother me  even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled  trees, Christmas trees.  I don't feel threatened.  I don't feel  discriminated against. That's what they are, Christmas trees.     It doesn't bother me a  bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me.  I don't think they are  slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto.  In fact, I kind  of like it.  It shows that we are all brothers and sisters  celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that  there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach  house in Malibu .  If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me  as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.     I don't like getting  pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting  pushed around for being Christians.  I think people who believe in  God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period.  I have no  idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist  country.  I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it  being shoved down my throat.     Or maybe I can put it  another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship  celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God ?  I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too.  But  there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from  and where the America we knew went to.     In light of the many  jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little  different:  This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's  intended to get you thinking.     Billy Graham's daughter  was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could  God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina)..   Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response.  She  said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for  years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our  government and to get out of our lives.  And being the gentleman He  is, I believe He has calmly backed out.  How can we expect God to  give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us  alone?'     In light of recent  events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc.  I think it  started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a  few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we  said OK.  Then someone said you better not read the Bible in  school.  The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal,  and love your neighbour as yourself.  And we said OK.     Then Dr. Benjamin Spock  said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their  little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem  (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide).  We said an expert should know  what he's talking about.  And we said okay.     Now we're asking  ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right  from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their  classmates, and themselves.     Probably, if we think  about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out.  I think it has  a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'     Funny how simple it is  for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to  hell.  Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question  what the Bible says.  Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail  and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages  regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.  Funny how  lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace,  but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and  workplace.     Are you laughing  yet?     Funny how when you  forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list  because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you  for sending it.     Funny how we can be more  worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of  us.     Share this with others if you think it has merit.  If not, then just ignore  it ... no one will know, apart from yourself, but if you ignore this thought  process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is  in.      My Best Regards,   Honestly and respectfully,Ben Stein

David Cameron and the Homosexual Agenda

Our Prime Minister, David Cameron, will be congratulated on the speech about marriage which he made at the Conservative Party Conference this week. He said that he believes a stronger society “starts with families.”  That is indeed an admirable and very true statement. There are few people who can rightfully ignore that the breakdown of society in this country has been largely orchestrated by those responsible for the breakdown of marriage and so talk of a return to 'family values' and the support of marriage will always be music to the ears of those of the electorate who are genuinely concerned about the state of the nation.


The breakdown of marriage has brought about a fractured society in which the values once held by the majority of people have been so marginalised by the liberal extremists in the main arena of the political circus that there is little or no respect for anything or anyone any more. Led by a liberal elite who have openly discarded the moral and ethical values of a balanced society, those who still dare to stand up for the values which used to be the bedrock of this nation are ridiculed and publicly pilloried for their beliefs. 


There was once a time when this nation laid claims to being a Christian society, although I have to admit that what that meant, by and large, was that in general terms society followed the precepts of the 10 Commandments, rather than genuinely being followers of Jesus Christ, which is what being a Christian actually means. No wonder then, that Christians are increasingly sidelined and ridiculed for their beliefs in the modern-day secular nation in which we live.


The 'bedrock' concept and practise of marriage has been eroded by the ready acceptance of the increase in the illegitimate birthrate and by the relentless pursuit of the abortionists and the homosexual lobby to create a society in which 'equality' means that whatever an individual thinks is okay and desirous for them as a lifestyle should be legislated in favour. However, it should be recognised that no matter how many times you might shout that a particular issue or practise is right, it does not make it so by the noise of the pro-lobby alone.


Much has been said about the idea of homosexual unions cemented by the Civil Partnership route resulting in those concerned as being described as having been married, the fact of the matter is that, no matter how much vociferous noise is created by those in favour of such a description, marriage can only be a matter between a man and a woman. In terms of equality, the basis for much of Cameron's argument, the Civil Partnership ceremony protects those who favour this life-style choice quite adequately.


Cameron said in his speech:

“But for me, leadership on families also means speaking out on marriage. Marriage is not just a piece of paper. It pulls couples together through the ebb and flow of life. It gives children stability. And it says powerful things about what we should value. So yes, we will recognise marriage in the tax system.

“But we’re also doing something else. I once stood before a Conservative conference and said it shouldn’t matter whether commitment was between a man and a woman, a woman and a woman, or a man and another man. You applauded me for that. Five years on, we’re consulting on legalising gay marriage.

“And to anyone who has reservations, I say: Yes, it’s about equality, but it’s also about something else: commitment. Conservatives believe in the ties that bind us; that society is stronger when we make vows to each other and support each other. So I don’t support gay marriage despite being a Conservative. I support gay marriage because I’m a Conservative.”

Naturally, as a committed Christian, I take the Christian viewpoint on marriage, a factor for which I make no apology because I believe that the Biblical definition of marriage is the only correct one, and no amount of posturing by those who wish to change the definition for political gain or any other reason, will bring about a change of mind.

There is much talk regarding the rights of people in our society. If such talk was matched by mention of the corresponding responsibilities then perhaps our society would not be so fractured. It is my belief that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice, although I accept that the influences absorbed during upbringing will often nurture a proclivity towards that choice. 

So, Mr Cameron, I say that you are wrong in your thinking when it comes to extending the legality of the term 'marriage' to same-sex couples, for they can never be married in the eyes of God, only in the eyes of man. Of course, all people have a right to live as they want to, providing that their choice is legal, and that right extends to all people. However, to attempt to redefine that which is laid down in Holy Writ puts you on a collision course with God Himself.
