Three Spiders
Observed at 5, St Breock Close, Salisbury
Casually looking upward
at white-painted ceiling,
I watched them:
a multitude of legs
scattering pin-bodied owners
to and fro;
carrying them to secret places
in the great oak beams;
niches, carved by time.
There they weave their
gossamer webs of conspiracy,
patiently awaiting passers-by
who will fill their larders,
slowing the kaleidoscope.
