Ten Things I'm Looking Forward to:

1. The seasonal 'buzz' that really starts to come to life around early November as Christmas shopping gets properly under way.
2. The sights, sounds and smells of old-style High Streets; so much nicer than the cold soullessness of so many of the modern Shopping Malls.
3.  The Christmas displays at Bents Garden Centre at Glazebury, near Warrington in Cheshire (UK). Every year their wonderful Christmas displays win an award for being the best-dressed Garden Centre. Check it out for yourself if you get the chance, or look them up on the Internet.
4. Communion on Christmas Eve, which is always such a special way to start celebrating the birth of Jesus.
5.  Spring, with the fecund richness that it brings as new life proliferates all around; lambs in the fields, primroses in the lanes and bluebells in the woodlands.
6. Planning next year's holiday.
7. Catching up with friends, either face-to-face or by mail, electronic or hard copy.
8. Warmer weather, 'cos I don't enjoy the cold!
9. Blessings which God has in store for me.
10. Opportunities to use the talents that I have been blessed with for the benefit of others and to glorify Jesus Christ.

Now I realise that some people will berate me on the basis that all I'm doing with a list like this is wishing my time away, BUT, when you really don't enjoy both getting up and coming home in the dark or the thoughts of freezing cold temperatures to come, what else can you do but look forward with hope to brighter days?


That's the whole story of LIFE really, isn't it, for as we go through life, travelling on the many different paths that we find, isn't our journey taking us forward to the LIGHT? If the answer's 'No' then it's time to make changes, for we need the Light in order to banish the darkness altogether. Of course, when I refer to the Light there can only be one real understanding of it, and that is the Light of the World. Jesus Christ is the Light of the World, and one day we shall all praise Him in His radiant glory. Now that is REALLY something to look forward to!
