'Hymn for Today' --- "Fisher of Men"

Fisher of Men   8787
Make me a fisher of men, Lord,
Casting my net by the sea,
Sharing the news of the Saviour
Who died for men to be free.

Teach me the words I should say, Lord,
Show me the places to go,
Help me to be a true witness,
Letting Your love freely flow.

Washed clean by the blood of the Lamb,
Now by the Saviour set free,
Confessed, forgiven and redeemed,
My Lord is ever with me.

Beautiful Sunset

There is so much beauty in the night sky, especially as the sun is setting. Here we have the added advantage of the reflections in the water, doubling the pleasure.

Poem: "Realisation"

This poem was first published in my book Flight of a Bee, published by Gazebo Books (Pty) in Rhodesia, 1978.

Realisation
In the morning
I look at you
as you lay
sleeping;
I see the
mark of sleep
around your eyes,
the tangled jungle
of your hair.
I smell
the stale odours
of shared sleep,
then I knew
how much
I really
love you

Yet more 'Great Christian Quotes'

"I cannot agree with those who say that they have 'new truth' to teach. The two words seem to me to contradict each other; that which is new is not true. It is the old that is true, for truth is as old as God himself." - Charles Spurgeon

"We want his power more than his purity."
- David Wilkerson

"With complete consecration comes perfect peace." - Watchman Nee

"Many people claim to be saved from hell but not from sin. A good many are preaching that kind of salvation... The only salvation is through the blood of Jesus that cleanses from all sin." - Apostolic Faith papers #5

"There is something infinitely better than doing a great thing for God, and the infinitely better thing is to be where God wants us to be, to do what God wants us to do, and to have no will apart from His." - G. Campbell Morgan

"Didn´t the Lord tell me from the beginning to give up everything and carry the cross to follow him? This is the Lord´s way. I am following him on the same path... Why should I complain? This is my biggest blessing." - Epaphras from China Soul video (the underground church in China)

My Hymn choice for today.

I hope that you enjoy this hymn which I wrote to the popular hymn tune 'Jesus Loves Me.'  Please feel free to use it in your Worship Services. All I ask is that you report its use to CCLI.

My Prayer  (1)  7777
Tune: Jesus loves me
Father, hear me as I pray,
Jesus take my sins away;
Help me pass the darkest night,
Praise His glory in the Light.
      Keep me, my Saviour,
      Yes, keep me my Lord;
      Keep me forever,
      As promised in Your Word!
Though in sin I bow in shame,
Help me call upon His name;
Teach me how I should forgive,
As each day in Christ I live.
     Keep me, my Saviour, . . .
Seeking always as I walk
Christ the Truth, the Life, the Way;
Serving Jesus in this world,
Praise Him always every day.
     Keep me, my Saviour, . . .
Helping others in His name,
Find salvation through the Son;
Till we stand in heaven’s light
Praising Him for battles won!
     Keep me, my Saviour, . . .

Birth of Love

Birth of Love

A quiet sea, with rocks afore,
moonlight shining on the shore;
half-lit sky and hazy cloud,
love and life, and all allowed.
Here alone with all our dreams,
all our plans, all our schemes,
moonlight shines from up above
upon our embryonic love.

'My Favorite Things' : Well, almost!!!

To commemorate her birthday, actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan 's Radio   City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things'  from the legendary movie 'Sound Of Music'.   Here are the lyrics she used: (Sing It!) - If you sing it, its especially hysterical!!!  Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and  handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
  These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
  These are a few of my favorite things.
When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
     And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
    These are a few of my favorite things.
Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
  When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
     When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
      And then I don't feel so bad.
>>>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>> (Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd
that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.)

Paul's Discourse on the subject of Love: 1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Rev Colin's 'Hymn for Today' : "Gospel Story"

Gospel Story  77 77
TUNE: St Bees
Jesus came down from above,
Telling us of God’s great love;
He’s our brother, Lord and friend,
And on Him we can depend.
He has paid the ransom cost,
To redeem the poor and lost;
Lame men walk and blind men see,
When He calls them, “Follow Me.”
When His promises we claim,
He will set our hearts aflame;
He will grant us when we serve,
Blessings more than we deserve.
His the glory, His the praise,
Songs of royal worship raise;
To His feet your tributes bring,
Praise and glorify the King!

GREAT Christian Quotations

"To be right with God, has often meant to be in trouble with men." - A.W. Tozer

"Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell."  - C. T. Studd

"If your faith does not make you pray, have nothing to do with it: get rid of it, and God help thee to begin again." ~ Charles Spurgeon

"To bear the cross means that you refrain from doing what you have the power to do. You are qualified to fulfill your desire, yet you refrain from doing so. A person like this is the strongest person. The strongest person is not the one who is able to do something, but the one who is able not to do what he has the power to do." ~ Watchman Nee
