Until a child tells you what they are thinking, you cannot even begin to imagine how their mind is working ....
Little David was doing very badly in maths. His parents had tried everything ― tutors, mentors, flash cards, special learning centres ― in short, everything they could think of to help his maths.
Finally, in a last ditch effort, they decided to enrol him in the local Catholic school which had a great reputation for dealing with learning problems. After the first day, David came home with a very serious look on his face. Without even kissing his mother hello he went straight to his room and started studying.
Later, when his parents looked in on him to call him down for his meal, they were amazed at what they saw. Books and papers were spread out all over the room and David was hard at work studying intently.
To her shock, the minute he finished eating, he went back up to his room without a word and, in no time, he was back hitting the books as hard as before. This went on for some time, day after day, while his mother tried to understand what had made all the difference.
Finally, David brought home his report card, quietly laid it on the table, went up to his room and back to his studies. Looking at the report card his Mum was amazed to discover that he had got an 'A' in maths. She could no longer contain her curiosity. She had to find out what had caused such a change in her son, and so she went up to his room and said, “David, what’s made the difference? Was it the nuns? " David looked at her and shook his head, “No.”
“Well, then,” she asked, “Was it the books, the discipline, the structure, the uniforms? What was it?”
David looked at her and said, “Well, on the first day of school when I saw that guy nailed to the plus sign, I knew they weren’t fooling around."
