Most of us are affected in one way or another by the global economic crisis, and like every time of crisis it is a time when our faith can be tested, in some instances to the very edge. Yet it is at times of testing that we have the opportunity to grow stronger. In today's Meditation, Joanne Lowe addresses the problem of what to give when we seem to be materially poorer.

WE CAN GIVE THEM LOVE
“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
Acts 3: 6 (King James Version)
We are going through a very serious economic crisis. Mothers are broken hearted because they can’t buy everything they want to buy their children. Dads are discouraged because they don’t have the money to buy as much food for their families as they did before. There is one thing we can give our children that doesn’t cost anything; we can give them love.
Even if we have all of the money in the world to buy things for our families and friends but don’t give them unconditional love and forgiveness, we are failing them. Not only are we failing them; we are hurting Jesus. Remember, if we are kind and loving to people, we are kind and loving to Jesus. If we are mean and cruel to people, we are mean and cruel to Jesus.
Are you giving your family and friends unconditional love? Do you forgive them when they hurt you? If we are refusing to forgive people and we are not loving them unconditionally, then we need to ask Jesus to please forgive us and allow Him to sweep all of the bitterness, the resentment, the jealousy and unforgiveness from our hearts with His broom of correction.
How dare we continue to harbor unforgiveness in our hearts for those who have hurt us when Jesus forgives us when we hurt Him. May God have mercy on us for refusing to forgive people when they hurt us. Loving one another is not an option; it is a commandment from Jesus. Are you loving people as Jesus has commanded you to love them?
