Back from my holiday . . .

Yesterday afternoon we returned from a wonderful week spent in a Cave House in Bacor, Andalucia, Spain. We had a great week of relaxation and sunshine, with temperatures soaring on occasion to over 34C.

The cave houses, or troglodyte dwellings, are fascinating! We visited Purellena, the first town to be completely made up of cave dwellings, which it was thirty years ago, although now cave houses account for about 60% of the village population.

Whilst there we visited the Cave Museum which showed the changes in the style of cave dwellings over the decades. A very worthwhile visit. We also enjoyed the cave shops which had thousands of items of earthenware on sale for the tourist, and at more than reasonable prices.

If sharing this glimpse of Troglodyte life encourages you, dear reader, to go and experience it for yourself, then I hope that you stay with a couple like Kevin and Debbie Coles as we did at CasaCave, for they went out of their way to make our visit special. Take a look at their website.
