Birth of Love
The candle flickers gently to and fro,
Pouring forth its sacred light;
The whole world caught in its eternal glow,
Proclaiming life into earth’s night.
Shadows form across the walls and floor,
Trapped forever in the soft embrace;
Soft and sweet, I watch the shadows fall,
To add an edge of gold upon your face.
To see reflections captured in your eyes,
A gold medallion set in hazel brown;
The glisten of the early morning dew
From the teardrop, as it slowly trickles down.
I lean across, to brush away that tear,
As I have done so many times before.
A whisper, soft, to have no fear,
To watch the candle’s glow once more.
We watch, and see the room no more,
But far stretched fields of golden corn:
The flame, the warmth of summer sun,
Amongst the peace, a love is born.
