ARE WE SHINING FOR JESUS
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 (King James Version)
Anna Belle Russell wrote several hymns. One of them is “Be a Ray of Sunshine”. I wonder if we are doing what the words in the song tell us to do. “Be a ray of sunshine everywhere you go, Shining for the Savior with a steady glow”.
Are we shining for Jesus with a steady glow or do we have a frown on our faces most of the time? No matter how many poisonous arrows satan hurls at us, Jesus loves us and He will never leave us, not even for one minute.
Knowing that our precious Saviour loves us and will never leave us should make us shine for Him even in the midst of heartaches and difficult situations. It is impossible for us to shine for Him in our own strength. It is the joy of Jesus that is our strength.
“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).
We could never generate that kind of joy. It is Jesus living in us and shining through our hearts that gives us the ability to shine for Him. My prayer is that I will always be a ray of sunshine for Jesus. Are you a ray of sunshine for Jesus?
Heavenly Father, help us to let Jesus work through our hearts and be our strength so that we will be able to shine for Him even in the midst of heartaches and difficult situations. Thank You for Jesus. You are a loving compassionate Father. Amen.
