Every one of us will spend eternity somewhere --- that's a fact. Where you spend it is down to the choices that you make in this life, for they will affect what happens to you in the next. You will spend it either in Heaven or in Hell. It's your choice.
Just like me, you were born into sin, and sin became a large part of your life, even though you may not want to admit it. True, you haven't probably committed HUGE sins, but every little untruth, every time that you've had hatred in your heart, every time that you have broken one of God's commandments, then you have sinned.
For this reason God, recognising the nature of mankind, sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to set them free from the bonds of sin. How can you be set free? Well, firstly you need to admit that you are a sinner, and that's not the easiest thing in the world to do. Once you can face the facts, then you need to say how sorry you are to God for all of your sins. This is what is called Repentance, and it is often accompanied with tears. Then you need to acknowledge that Jesus Christ died on the Cross at Calvary in order to pay the penalty that God demanded for sin, which was death. When Jesus died, he died for the sins of everyone of us, past, present and future. What we --- and that means you as well --- have to do is to confess that Jesus died for your sins, and that you accept Him as your Saviour and acknowledge Him as your Lord.
From that moment on you must live your life for Christ, doing all that you can to share Him with others. Do this and your life will be changed. You will be transformed!
In Christ you have your hope of eternal life. Through Christ you will spend eternity with God. Without Him you would spend eternity apart from God. This is, I believe, the easiest way to understand what Heaven and Hell mean.
Like I said, it's up to you!
