Poem for Today : 'First Christmas'

First Christmas
Just an empty stable
was all that could be found.
A small and flickering lamp,
lighting up the ground.
Yet there, amidst the straw,
on that first Christmas morn,
a miracle took place,
for Jesus Christ was born.

No palace for this King,
Just a manger filled with hay,
where God lay down His infant head
And blessed us with the Way.
For in that straw-filled stable,
With the creatures looking on,
God came down to earth,
When Jesus Christ was born.
