Coalition attacks the sanctity of marriage as defined by God.

I have long been opposed to the use of the term 'marriage' being applied to same-sex couples, on the basis that I believe firmly in the institution of marriage being ordained by God between a man and a woman for the procreation of children.  The adoption of children by same-sex couples does not amount to 'procreation', notwithstanding that the children concerned may be raise in as stable a relationship as many heterosexual couples provide. The stability of any relationship, whether heterosexual, homosexual or lesbian, is not at issue here. What is at issue is that by calling upon the church to accept performing marriage ceremonies for same-sex couples is tantamount to asking God to bless what man wants Him to do, rather than asking God to bless mankind for doing what God instructs. Any recognition by the Church which involves performing the marriage rites with a same-sex couple is, in the eyes of Holy Scripture, wrong, and to expect that God will bless what is wrong is to display a complete ignorance of whom you are offending against.


Of course, I have no doubt that many who will support this notion of same-sex 'marriage' will say that it is irrelevant what the Bible says because they don't feel that they need to abide by an outdated set of rules administered by an organisation to which they pay lip-service at best. There will be many who have no belief in God at all and yet will aspire to a 'Church Wedding'. In this they will be no different to many heterosexual couples who choose to marry in church often for the spurious reason that the building makes a nice backdrop for the photographs.


On Thursday the Government made an announcement that they would allow civil partnerships to have a religious element to them and to be conducted in places of worship. In addition, a consultation will take place which will include a review on full homosexual “marriage” equality.

Homosexual “marriage” has long been one of the goals of the radical homosexual rights lobby. If they succeed, then we are facing the complete re-definition of marriage and the family and the biggest social engineering experiment carried out by a Government this century. Marriage between a man and a woman has been clearly designed by God as a life-long commitment and the safest place to nurture children. The Government is proposing to re-define marriage from its biblical model to a model shaped by homosexual ideology, with potentially profound consequences.

The intermediary step of allowing civil partnerships in be held in churches would blur the distinction between civil partnerships and marriage, and although it is being promised that it will be optional for churches to participate, there is little doubt that our existing equality laws will be used and tested by homosexual campaigners to pursue discrimination claims against those ministers who decline to officiate civil partnerships in their own churches.
