Joanne Lowe's Meditations

A VERY SPECIAL GIFT
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.  And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”
Matthew 2:10,11 (King James Version)
We have a very special gift we can give Jesus tomorrow as we celebrate His birth.  Jesus said “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40).
The very special gift we can give Jesus is to love our families unconditionally and to be quiet when we desperately want to say something back to them when they hurt us.  When we are kind and loving to people, Jesus says that we are kind and loving to Him.  When we are hateful to people, we are hateful to Him.
If your spouse or children do something to upset you, just smile and say “It’s okay.  I love you”.  I believe that there would be a lot more peace and a lot more happiness in our families if we would do what Jesus has told us to do and that is to love each other unconditionally.
Are you willing to be quiet when someone in your family hurts you instead of saying hurtful things in return?  Do you love Jesus enough to give Him a very special gift on His birthday, the gift of being quiet when you want to say something hurtful to the one who hurt you?
