African Magic
Stand and stare
As the evening passes by
In multi-coloured glory;
Each colour wrapped within
A cloak of burnished gold.
Stand and dream
As your life unfolds before you
Like a piece of Joseph’s coat,
Upon the soft ,brown,
Yielding earth.
Stand and wait,
Whilst the world passes you by
In fleeting moments,
each moment reflecting
The silence of perfect peace.
Stand and wonder,
As men before have done,
That all this will continue
Far beyond your existence,
Despite the undoings of mankind.
Stand and drift
Upon a cloud of purple smoke,
Moving unseen
Through the Universe
In an ever increasing arc.
Stand and stare,
As the passing of the day
Unfolds before you in a dream,
Reminding you of its glory,
Now spent.
