We are having a few days of Summer at the moment, and that reminds me of the beautiful warm sunshine when we were on holiday in Andalucia last year. The mountain village we stayed in was called Bacor, and nearby was beautiful Lake Negratin, which at 13km was large enough to make you feel as though you were at the seaside.
This is the church at Bacor, set in the little town square. In the photograph at the top of this Blog I am sitting on the edge of the fountain in the middle of the square. It was a very hot day (about 34C), and the water at least made me imagine that I was cooler! Those legs don't often get exposed to public gaze in case they frighten the local wildlife!
The lake was amazing! It was vast and, as you can see from the photographs, as good as being on the beach. We went there most days and it was usually uncrowded during the daytime, getting busier at the end of the day when people finished work.
I didn't venture out in one of these pedalos, but I did spend a lot of time under the shade of this awning enjoying ice-cream!
The area around the village was mostly scrub land, but with a beauty of its own.
We visited the town of Guadix a short distance away, and toured around the cathedral.
This is the side entrance to the cathedral, and the photograph below shows the detailed courtyard in front of the cathedral gates.
The picture below shows a typical street scene in Guadix.
